Facebook and Common Sense Media
Once again commonsense media has provided wonderful, practical, and helpful review of the social media site Facebook. If you click on the link you will see that the review has a quick overview at the top of the page that allows users to quickly see that Facebook is a social media site that is most appropriate for 13 year old's, connects friends, but requires privacy. This review goes into more detail about what parents need to know, what kids can learn, and what the site is all about.
The BFG and Common Sense Media
There is a great site called commonsensemedia.org that anyone can use to look up the safety ratings and appropriateness for anything you would like to use with your classroom, child, or yourself!
The first thing I searched is the current book I am reading, The BFG by Roald Dahl. As I have been reading this book I have been wondering whether or not this book would be appropriate for the current primary classroom I am student teaching. I was pleasantly surprised to find out this book is recommended for 6 year old's and is best used as a read aloud. (Exactly what I wanted to use it for!)
